Samsung PL210

Samsung PL210 is a compact digital camera focused towards beginners. It has a resolution of 14.2 megapixel s, 10x optical zoom, focal length from 4.85 to 48.5mm and a luminous intensity of F3.3 to 5.9.

This inexpensive model is available in two colors- silver and black. Apart from the uniform controls there is a 3in screen on the back with a resolution of 230000 pixels. The Samsung PL210 has ISO sensitivity between 80 to 3200. The manufacturer claims it can record videos in HD quality (1920×720).

The camera delivers decent quality in most environments. The 10x optical zoom performs quite well. We noticed good quality up to ISO 800, at ISO 1600 an amount of visible noise starts appearing. The manual mode we took few macro shots in F3.3 with ISO 100 and a shutter speed of 1/80 and were left pleasantly surprised with the results.

Samsung NX11

The 14.6Mp Samsung NX11 is an interchangeable-lens camera that resembles a small digital SLR (DSLR) at roughly half the depth. As with rival products, such as the Olympus PEN, Panasonic GF and Sony NEX series, the NX11 omits the standard mirror mechanism. It updates the NX10 as Samsung’s second-generation compact system camera (CSC), but the pitch is the same: DSLR-like image quality (thanks to an APS-C sized CMOS sensor), but a smaller form-factor, plus the facility to swap lenses.

Samsung WB650

The WB650 is near-identical to its £50 cheaper WB600 sibling. This model adds GPS to a 12.2Mp resolution, 24mm wide-angle lens and 15x optical zoom. An antenna and adjacent GPS on/off switch has been added relatively unobtrusively to the edge of the Samsung’s top plate, and a slight curve to one side of the faceplate in lieu of a grip. It’s the only camera here to offer an AmoLED rear display rather than regular LCD, for more clearly defined viewing, and the cheapest to also offer GPS.

As with the Casio model, the Samsung’s video resolution is pegged at 1280×720 pixels, albeit at 30fps with stereo sound. This camera also features a dedicated record button.

Samsung Ex1

Samsung’s digital cameras haven’t always hit the mark in the past. This one does, but that isn’t obvious from its headline spec – ten megapixels from a 1/1.7-inch CCD, ix optical zoom and standard-def video sounds a bit archaic.
However, add superb, metal construction, the ability to shoot up to ISO 5200 at full resolution, the brightest lens on test with an aperture of f/1.8 at a wide angle 24mm, plus a tiking, three-inch AMOLED back screen with seriously sharp visibility and this has major appeal.

Samsung ST80

Samsung has never been one to take a backseat when it comes to experimenting with new innovative products. Their newest launch, the point-and-shoot ST80 is enough evidence of this. The ST80 has several new features, distinguishing it from a normal point-and-shoot camera. The 14.2 megapixel ST80 is a slim camera that easily fits in your pocket. It’s sturdy, ergonomic design makes it easy to handle. Like its predecessors, the ST80 too has an easy-to-use interface. The camera has a ready-to-use charger; hence you don’t need to detach the battery unit from the camera while charging. But the problem with this feature is, you can’t use the camera while the battery is charging.

SAMSUNG NX10

You might wonder what a Samsung camera is doing in the DSLR category. But a look at the NX10 and you will realize why it is a great piece of tech. It is a micro four-thirds camera, which packs in DSLR features in point-and-shoot dimensions. It is no DSLR but has the most sought-after feature of the DSLRs—interchangeable lens. This powerful camera clicks super sharp and vivid shots. The user interface is easy to operate and navigate through. It clicks images in both JPEG and RAW formats and can also shoot videos in 720p.

Specs: 14.6 MP; 3-inch AMOLED screen; 18-55mm auto-focus lens; RAW-f JPEG shooting, – 720p video, – 353 gm
